In 2015, I believe it is safe to say that technology plays a significant role in most people’s personal and professional lives in the United States. The use of technology and computer applications has changed the way we communicate and conduct business, for example. I have engaged with distance services at the Carer Center and based on my limited exposure, felt like it was a completely different experience than working with a student face-to-face. Over the course of this semester, I am looking forward to learning more about the marriage of counseling and technology and further understanding its benefits, as well as its costs. In addition, I will look at this relationship through the lens of a career service paraprofessional and reflect on how this area of study impacts the population of students transferring from a community college to a university.
